Dual Enrollment Program

The Dual Enrollment Program allows eligible high school students to enroll in college classes concurrently with high school classes, either on the college campus or at the high school, and to receive both high school and college credit. High school students enrolled in the Dual program must pay normal tuition and fees as required by the College. Students must be in grades 10, 11, or 12; they must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 unweighted high school gpa (CTDE students in Automotive Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, and Welding have been approved to enroll with a minimum 2.0 gpa); they must have the approval of their school counselor and parent/legal guardian. Students planning to enroll in English or math courses must meet the ACT pre-requisites or take the ACCUPLACER placement assessment.

For admission to the dual program, high school students must:

  1. complete the LBWCC Application for Admission
  2. submit the Dual Enrollment - Interest and Eligibility form, signed by the student and parent along with counselor approval
  3. submit a high school transcript documenting grade level and the required gpa
  4. Placement Assessment for English or math, or provide ACT scores which exempt them from placement

Exceptions may be granted by the Chancellor for a student documented as gifted and talented in accordance with Alabama Administrative Code section 290-8-8-12.

Accelerated Program

The Accelerated High School Program allows eligible high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. College credit earned through the Accelerated program may not substitute for high school credit. High school students enrolled in the Accelerated program must pay normal tuition and fees as required by the College. To enroll as an accelerated student, they must have; successfully completed the 10th grade, a minimum cumulative 3.00, “B”, average, and be recommended by their principal, and they may enroll only in courses for which the high school prerequisites have been completed.

For admission to the accelerated program, high school students must:

  1. complete the LBWCC Application for Admission
  2. submit a high school transcript documenting completion of the tenth grade and the required “B” average
  3. submit the Accelerated Credit - Interest and Eligibility form,
  4. take the Placement Assessment and place into the course desired or provide ACT scores which exempt the student from the placement assessment

Exceptions may be granted by the Chancellor for a student documented as gifted and talented according to the standards in Alabama Administrative Code section 290-8-9-12.
